# Stock Screener

60+ filters across market cap, price, volume, float, short interest, performance, sector.

## Overview

AskEdgar's general-purpose stock screener. Slice the universe by basic fundamentals (market cap, sector, country), microstructure (float, outstanding, short interest, days to cover, borrow fee), short-term performance windows (1-day through 365-day), and gap/runner counts.

## When to use

* Building scanner playbooks (low-float + high short + sub-$5, etc.).
* Powering watchlist filters.
* Sourcing fresh ideas with `pending_s1=true` for upcoming offerings.

## Key parameters

Most filters come in `min_*` / `max_*` pairs. A few non-obvious unit notes:

* **Decimal vs percentage:** `gain_*_day` filters are percentages (`15.0` = 15%). `short_float` is a decimal (`0.15` = 15% of float is short). `feerate` is a percentage (`5.0` = 5% annual borrow cost).
* `pending_s1=true` — issuers with a pending S-1 (upcoming IPO or follow-on).
* Dropdown filters (`industry`, `sector`, `country`, `exchange`, `state`, `currency`) — fetch valid values via [Screener Field Options](/reference/get_screener_options).

## Response highlights

* Identity: `ticker`, `companyname`, `website`, `industry`, `sector`, `country`, `exchange`, `state`, `currency`, `cik`, `cusip`, `ipodate`.
* Market: `market_cap`, `price`, `averagevolume`, `today_volume`, `median_volume_60`, `vol_change`, `high_365` / `low_365` (365-day price extremes).
* Float: `outstanding`, `float`, `tradable_float`.
* Ownership: `insider_percent`, `affiliate_percent`, `institutions_percent` — **decimal**, not percentage (`0.125` = 12.5%). A `0` is a reported zero; `null` means unavailable. `ownership_source_url` links the source document.
* Short: `short_interest`, `short_float`, `days_to_cover`, `available`, `feerate`.
* Performance: `gain_1_day`, `gain_2_day`, …, `gain_365_day`.
* Behavior: `num_gaps`, `num_runners`, `avg_gap`, `pending_s1`, `isactivelytrading`, `isadr`.

## Notes

* **Coverage:** audited only for companies under $1B market cap. Larger companies return `null` for affected fields, with a disclaimer on the response `message`.
